Liars, Liars, Tongues on Fire

People ask me whether I have had thoughts of throwing my hat into the arena of politics. I'd be lying if I said I had not, but after events unfolded over the weekend and this week, I know that I would never do well. Politics has become a career. Something that our Founding Fathers never intended. A political office was a position of honor, one which was to be respected. Being elected by your peers was the ultimate service one could perform, similar to serving in the military. It has become an abused authority that demands respect, regardless of who holds the office. Our American Idol electorate has denigrated the honor associated with being a public servant. It is no longer about honor and integrity, it is all about money, manipulation, and pork. I like to speak the truth, tell it like it is, and hold people accountable (including myself.) Why is it that our elected leaders can't do the same?

Nancy Pelosi claims that she does not recall being briefed on the techniques used to gain information from terrorist detainees (terrorist should read man-made disaster carry-outer.) Does she also not recall serving as a ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee? The same four-person committee that the CIA met with shortly after 9/11 to give a virtual tour of detention facilities and interrogation techniques, including waterboarding. The same meeting where at least two of the committee members asked if that was enough. The same time that some of her Democrat colleagues were worried that legal bullshit could corrupt counterterrorism efforts. Somebody is lying. Congress--note to self--don't let a San Franciscan, elitist moonbat exemplifying everything that is wrong with the Legislative Branch and should be held accountable for the deplorable approval numbers be in charge.

While on the subject of terrorism and 9/11, a 747 buzzed Manhattan the other day. I'm sure you have heard about it. One of the two planes used as Air Force One was on a 'glory tour' looking for a photo opportunity in front of the Statue of Liberty. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of New York citizens were shitting their pants and running for cover as the jet and F-16 escorts skirted the skyscrapers. Mayor Bloomberg was fuming and NY Senator Chuck Schumer said it bordered on being cruel and very stupid. In response, Robert Gibbs, the White House Press Secretary, hims and haws, finally saying to the reporters to contact the White House. YOU ARE THE WHITE HOUSE, DUMBASS! President Obama said that he found out about the stunt at the same time as the media outlets. First, let me say that I am not in the Secret Service and I do not proclaim to know their daily movements and activities, but are you going to tell me that one person is to blame for this? Louis Caldera, Director of the White House Military Office, is taking the fall for 'that one'. I am sure that it was Lou, acting on his own cognizance, that set the wheels in motion for the flyby. Five-term, Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter officially declared himself a Democrat yesterday. Not that this news is all that surprising. His reasons for leaving included being at odds with the Republican Party, but principle was at the top of his list. I'm sorry sir, but you have no idea what principle means. Could the reason you are switching be related to the anger from your Republican base back in PA for helping pass the porkulous package? Did it have anything to do with the possibility of losing in your primary with Pat Toomey? Somebody is lying. Democrat Party--note to self--don't be surprised when you are as frustrated with him as the Republicans. Oh and could you please lure Snowe and Collins out of the closet as well?
